PadMan sets yet another record; becomes the first ever Bollywood film with this new achievement

Even before PadMan movie has hit the screens, it has set a phenomenal record. The Akshay Kumar starrer, which releases on February 9, is the first Indian film to make it to the Oxford Union. Then it has emerged that this is the first film to be made on the theme of menstrual hygiene not just in India, but in the entire world. Now, PadMan has hit another high by becoming the first Bollywood film to be released in Russia over this point. Yes, PadMan has made another noteworthy record by becoming the first Bollywood film to be released in Russia on the same date as in the domestic market. Sharing the news on Twitter, Akshay wrote, “Happy to share, our film #PadMan becomes the first Bollywood film to be released in Russia on the same day and date. So Russia, see you at the movies on 9th February, 2018!”

PadMan is inspired by the life of Coimbatore-based Arunachalam Muruganantham who strived to find a cheaper way to manufacture affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village. Now, this common man’s story is attracting a global audience. The achievements of this humble man are great indeed as the menstrual cycle has been treated as taboo in India and the audacious step by the filmmakers has in turn garnered applause. Besides Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Radhika Apte ands Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film has been produced by Twinkle Khanna under her banner Mrs. Funnybones Movies.

Off late Akshay Kumar has been venturing in films that pertain to social issues and quite contrary to expectations they are doing exceptionally well at the box office. Keeping the hype surrounding the film in mind, PadMan may well turn out to be a massive BO hit in case it manages to touch the right chords in the public as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha did. However, first it will have to battle back Padmaavat, which is ruling th BO currently.
